The prominent DCBC club members involved in the inception of BOI were Tom Huster, John Copes, Charlie Hopwood, Glenn Stallard, and Angelo Fusco.
• Bears On Ice slowly grew over the years as other interested Bears were invited, since it was a club event. Then more non-club members started attending and it outgrew the Quality Inn. Attendees booked in surrounding hotels. DCBC stopped hosting the event in 2015-2016 but it continued in their legacy.

I attended my first BOI when it was at the former location in downtown Gettysburg after being introduced to the late Eric Jennings in 2016. After that, I was asked to join the committee for the 2018 planning and have been a member ever sense. We have brought many new and exciting feature to the BOI Snow Tubing event including a new location, shot crawls, djs, and a drag bingo!

In 2017 the combined 495Bears and Capital City Bears, Bears On Ice ("BOI") Planning Committee, took over planning the gathering and I was asked to join the Planning Committee to help plan and implement the 2018 gathering. I graciously accepted the invitation. In February 2018 BOI was relocated to the Eisenhower Hotel & Conference Center and I continue to volunteer my time and effort while being honored to serve my community.

I’ve have been attending Bears on Ice since 2011. 2019 I was asked to help out on the Games Committee and since that time I have been actively helping out anyway I can, having first designed the 2nd event tag design. Now, I am currently on the planning committee not just on game activities. I often would host poetry at Bears on Ice, enjoy laughter and fun in the games rooms, enjoy atmosphere that only Bears on ice can provide.

I attended my first Bears on Ice event in 2014 and haven't missed one since! In 2019, I was honored to join the Planning Committee to assist with planning the 2020 event. I assist the committee in any way I can to ensure things go as smoothly as possible. I enjoy volunteering my time to help organize this wonderful event and supporting the Bear community. Bears on Ice was the very first bear event my husband and I ever attended, so it holds a very special place in my heart. I am so proud to see what this event has evolved into over the years.
